About Us

Janice Carter is the President and owner of Janice Carter JC Group, LLC, which is the umbrella which houses several businesses and offers many services. Included under this umbrella is By the Book Tax Services, which is dedicated to helping clients make intelligent tax decisions and minimizing their income tax liability. Janice has over a decade in the tax preparation arena, providing traditional bookkeeping, tax and business consulting services to privately held small companies, individuals, and independent professionals. The scope of her experience also includes expertise with high net-worth individuals, small and medium businesses, rental real estate professionals, and multi-state taxation.

Born in Lake Village, Arkansas, Janice served as an enlisted soldier in the United States Army while attending the Academy of Health and Science in San Antonio, TX., where she received training as a Pharmacy technician. Later to become a Certified Pharmacy Technician with the Texas State Board of Pharmacy and the National Board of Pharmacy.

She is an accredited Certified Tax Return Preparer. Her independent tax firm, By the Book Tax Services, is also an IRS Authorized E-file Provider and an Electronic Return Originator (ERO) which assists in preparing and reporting extension returns for business and individual income tax.

In her spare time, Janice enjoys spending time with her family and friends, camping, dance, boating, hiking.
